Hi @ronaldtai after checking with the hardware engineers I have found the CPU max operating temperature is 105°C, and at 115°C it will completely stop working and reboot. So 65-80°C is OK.
Glad to know it’s the norm. Thanks!!
UPDATE : I noticed my ppm will still occasionally turn on by itself with no fan running and off after about 6 to 10 secs. Please do check what is the issue. It should not be behaving this way…
Most maybe to have the fan running as well. Can’t risk having it continuously running without cooling.
Thanks
Do you mean this is still happening after disabling all CEC options and with no HDMI plugged in?
I didn’t turn off the CEC. Only the part where it says to turn on TV (ppm)… That part I turn off. AppleTV plugged in via HDMI but it was off when the ppm woke up (with no fan) for unknown reason.
Well I seriously think you should turn off all CEC and unplug HDMI devices when not in use just to be on the safe side till this problem is sorted and only plug it in when you’re actually using it, because so far from what I have read you’re at least the 2nd one to encounter this issue and it all has to do with CEC over HDMI
Yes. I turned off my appleTV’s CEC control over the ppm. Now when I turn off appleTV, it does nothing to the ppm.
I hope this will stop the ppm to turn on by itself. Will keep you all posted on this.
Thanks for the update.
I have experienced the same issue with a projector from another brand connected to a FireTV. The solution was also to turn off CEC feature on the FireTV.
In any case, our engineers are on it.
Yes. AppleTV CEC is now off. I only set ppm CEC to turn off appleTV instead (ppm being the master now). My guess with my previous settings appleTV may occasionally check on ppm via HDMI and probably caused ppm to turn itself on momentarily without fan operation. So far I have not seen ppm on itself after I disabled appleTV CEC control. Will continue to monitor.
I am here to report ppm did not turn itself on anymore AFTER I disabled CEC IN AppleTV.
I supposed appleTV occasionally send some kind of signal to ppm via HDMI to maybe check on status, which in turn caused ppm to turn on itself (with projection light) without fan running for 6 to 8 seconds. And then switched off by itself.

Mine has turned itself on twice within the past 2 weeks and its only plugged into my ps4 via HDMI. The ps4 does not have a CEC option. Now I was running on software version 1.1.02, i will try the new update and see if that helps
The PS3 and PS4 can both turn on another connected device in my experience when they’re turned on.
Yes it does, but it’s disabled by default. Check the settings of your PS4
Ah ok, what exactly am I checking for, that the setting is turned off?
