Projector randomly stops drawing external power / Only charges for 5mins at a time

I have this exact same issue happening with the original uncluded charger: 20-30 minutes before it switching over to battery power, until I remove/reconnect the power supply.

I switched to a 15V - 3.0A charger I had lying around for a Bang & Olufsen Beolit 17 bluetooth speaker, and it works perfectly. Played PlayStation on the projector last night for several hours while it remained in charging mode.

I wrote to support and Philips sent me a return ticket form, even after I referred to this thread and the details of my problem, but I really think it seems overkill (and possibly pointless) to send back the unit, when the charger seems to be at fault.

Don’t send the whole projector back! Reply and make sure they understand you’re only sending back the charger.

To those with charger issues, which plug are you using it with, if any? EU, UK, AU, or US?

EU

Also, is there a workflow in place for support to just return the adapter and get a new one without sending back the entire unit? Like they won’t be confused by it or request the full unit to be sent back?

When you fill the “return” form, you can select an option that says you just need a missing accessory to be sent to you.

I am using the EU plug.

The replacement power supply came in today and it works perfectly!

Been playing content for several hours and the PPM never moves to battery power. Also the replacement power supply gets ‘warm’ but the original one actually got hot that it was almost painful to hold, so definitely there was something wrong with the original one!

Wonderful that it’s all sorted now! Great and quick service, got DHL shipping ID on Monday from Hong Kong and received it today in NL.

Dear Philips,

Received my PPM. I have the same charging problem.

While the device is turned off - using the charger and cable that came in the box, it charges for a straight 25 minutes with the Red LED turned on. After which the light indicator turns off.

I turn on the PPM to see if charging indicator on the screen is activated but it is confirmed that it is not charging and had stop to 59%.

I remove the cable from the PPM and plug in back in and now it charges again - after 30 minutes it stops charging again. So it never automatically reaches 100% not unless I watch over the unit.

I also have tried watching the PPM and plug in the charger so my battery won’t drain on a movie. It starts charging then just stops (and I didn’t notice until battery ran out).

  • I have tried using the original adapter and charging cable to charge my Galaxy Note 9 and it works.
  • I tried using my apple power adapter to PPM same problem. it charges for awhile then just stops charging. UPDATE: the apple power adapter does not charge at all.
  • I have updated the software already.

Same problem for me…
