Agreed, it shouldn’t have happened so how can it be released?

You can fix it by performing a factory reset. For that you have to get into the settings menu.
Find the cogwheel icon (which is the settings icon)
And spam with ur mouse cursor on the icon and when the screen turns black, until you enter the settings menu.

From there scroll down to software update > factory reset.

In the situation where the cogweels icon isn’t visible, try entering the topside home screen by spamming arrow up button on your remote first. (I haven’t tried this out to see if this works, just a deduction)

Yeah, do not update Netflix. I also forgot how to pair the AirMote. Sigh… gonna search for the steps now.

Not working for me.
I had reboot few times and I can not enter setting menu anymore.

Hello Zoub,
I’m just seeing a black screen with a blinking icon with three lines.
I tried to move the cursors from the remote control but is not happening nothing!

How to perform a factory reset in this situation?

It’s like this, how should I fix it?

Just FYI all, you can still use HDMI/ USB-C/Chromecast/Airplay/Youtube cast (except shit Netflix cast encryption)

Just the built-in android is fked. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Answering myself with a viable solution that does NOT require factory reset.

1- Spam click mouse button over the settings cog until it eventually goes in
2- Go to “About” and click “Ok” 6 times over the “Software Version” to open android settings
3- Go to "Apps’
4- Click “See all Apps”
5- Go to the bottom of the list of apps and click on “Show system apps”
6- Go to “Screeneo launcher” (it might be located in the general app list instead of the system apps list)
7- Click on unistall updates and replace Screeneo Launcher with the factory version BUT keeping everything else intact
8- Enjoy

EDIT: Seems like this workaround only applies to those that can see the launcher screen for long enough to display the settings cog, if you only get a black screen seems like you are out of luck.

Why the engineers not replying to the serious problem after uploading the update? The worst thing is no hard reset button….

hello Pablo,

how do you have reached the setting menu?
“1- Spam click mouse button over the settings cog until it eventually goes in”

I cannot click anywhere in the black screen!

Mine flashed the home screen for 1 second before going black again, i used that moment to go to the settings icon.

That’s worse than what I had, in my case at least it flashed the home launcher for one second.

Exact same problem here after updating home launcher when it prompted.
Can’t see or locate the cogwheel icon in a plain dark screen with a flashing menu icon on the right. Help please!!!

I should have read this post earlier… I updated the launcher, got the screen keeping flashing, and finally I made a factory reset :frowning:

Same problem here!!

I wonder if it’s possible to do a factory reset in a safe mode sort of environment for the ones that don’t see the cogwheels settings icon

same problem here, moving the mouse icon doesn’t bring anything up.
I first upgraded to the latest firmware 1.2.7.
Is there any way to do a hard reset on this?
I could try to do another update of the firmware on top but is there a way to launch this without the need to be loaded in the android os?
