Have opened a support ticket, but also adding it here in the event other community members are having the same issue:
I have attempted to connect to three different WiFi networks with the UL5. While it makes the connection, the speeds are so slow it is impossible to stream from any of the apps. I have tried the Hulu app (error code P-DEV320) and my own personal Plex server. I am running the latest firmware V.046.00, Hardware 1.0.0
My unit just started displaying the exact same behaviour today, with no obvious cause. I left the device on standby while I was at work, switched it on when I returned home and nothing is streamable - no audio and almost no framerate (certainly unwatchable). I tried casting from my iPhone but that shows the same problems.
have tried everything I can think of to resolve but no luck. did you manage to get a resolution?
the problem seemed to be the connection to the bt speaker I was using - UL5 has disconnected. I power cycled the speaker, UL5 connected and all other problems went away.
We have also started having this problem spontaneously with no explanation. Disconnecting the Bluetooth speaker did not fix it. Nor did doing a factory reset.
I have found no solution and support has been less than helpful. My only solution which works fine is a connected Roku stick which eliminates using the built in OS
Had same problem for several month and it seems also related to Bluetooth. As soon as I connect the UL5 to a bluetooth speaker, the streaming was ok. Tried factory reset, hard reboot, change WIFI AP, … nothing work. I remove the speaker from BT device list, and still not OK. I re-associate the BT speaker, and everything is ok now. Hope it’s the solution.
I had the same problem, when using my Airpods Pro via BT. After switching off the UL5 and using it a couple days later all apps were not usable anymore - until I simply switched the sound to the internal speaker (or reconnecting the Airpods). But if it’s set to BT but no BT device is connected, you get that strange behaviour. Now that I know it, it’s no problem.
But no question - just the simple fact that there were no Firmware updates anymore since last year is desaster.
