I installed my UL5 projector a few days ago. I am very disapointed about the image. Bad contrast end poor colors.
Hi,
this is the same for me. The colors are off and the contrast is bad. The black levels are so inexistent that I can’t watch a movie scene filmed in the dark, I just don’t see what is going on.
On top of that, the top frame line is curved and no manual correction can change it.
I experience similar issues when a scene is in the dark, can’t almost see anything
I hope they are able to fix this with an update.
Could you maybe share a screenshot of how bad it is?
This will help me compare.
Were you able to find a solution?
I tried to take good picture of the bad contrast but as I don’t have a proper projection surface it’s very hard to achieve. I need to get an OK wall/projection screen first…
I am projecting against a white wall which seems to work pretty well.
The picture you shared at the beginning shows the issue too, correct?
I have been scrolling this community and I noticed there are lot of problems with this UL5. None of the problems seem to be solved. Customer support try to get rid of us by asking the most stupid questions. Asking to take a picture of your problem when your problem is loss of wifi or spontaneous shut down from the projector is quite hard. I am not happy with this device. What are they doing about waranty? legally they are obliged to do something…
Hi,
It took me a few months to find an affordable wall projection solution to properly test the projector. My solution is quite inexpensive: I bought two Forex panels (PVC foam boards) and attached them to my wall using special TESA wallpaper tape. The setup cost me around 90 EUR and took only 10 minutes to install. However, be careful to align the panels accurately in the middle to avoid any misalignment in the image.
Now, I can better assess the UL5 image quality. Overall, it’s quite nice but a bit “crispy” and cold compared to my PicoPix Max. There is a concave distortion on the left side that I haven’t managed to correct. Fortunately, it’s not a major issue for me.
My solution gives me satisfaction for the image even if I’m a bit disappointed considering Philips campaign promises.
However, I’m having trouble setting up the sound correctly. I connected an Apple TV to the projector, and although the internal speakers sound quite good, there is a slight delay (which my brain adjusts to after a while). However, when I connect the Apple TV to my Symfonisk Sonos system, the delay becomes a bit more noticeable and annoying. I’m not sure what to do about it.
Regarding the sound issue, is there a way to connect the projector directly to the Sonos system via Wi-Fi?
I wonder what operating system this projector uses, is it Android?
