I have just bought a MiBox 4 and finaly I can install all the apps i want to. I have tryed to figure out how to get my apps installed thrue apptoide and sideloading. But most of the times the app doesn’t work and I don’t want to spend a lot of time searching for solutions. The MiBox is everything i thought the PPM would be. Sadely I will have to live with the limitations of the PPM settings on the HDMI. If the Mi Smart projector is using a Android TV stick inside it as PhilipsIvo sayd, then you schould copy that in future projectors. This would have been a great way to upgrade the hardware thats controling apps and so on. I hope you in the future will give me the opputunity to acces all the settings on my HDMI port.
We bought one and disassembled it. No dongle. They have everything under the PCBA.
We are checking with Google and Netflix how they have done that.
Is it possible to hack a MI projector and take out the software, modyfi it and then upgrade the PPM with the software?
I have no idea if this is possible, I am not a programmer
Perhaps they have the dongle’s internals on their PCBA? ![]()
Interesting but technically and legally that doesn’t make a difference. It’s either on-board or a dongle; it can’t be dongle internals on board. If it’s a dongle on a board, it would be classified as the device itself.
Unofficially I think it can be done but would be like rethinking the firmware and subsystems from scratch. Officially, it would of course have legal repercussions.
I keep getting a message when I run HMA VPN about relies on Google Play Services, please update
Any idea how to able to run Hide My Ass VPN (HMA)
Thanks
With some VPNs you can try installing just the profile onto your device and use that to connect.
You could also implement the VPN at your router level using LT2P.
You should probably not use HMA as they are known to keep customer logs and hand over their customers data. Express VPN is better overall.
I am finding so much sad humor in this thread now.
“Maybe they are using a dongle”
“Uh we got one and it doesn’t have a dongle, must be black magic…”
“It’s likely illegal build…”
Well - things change rapidly - why this is shocking is more of a defection on the part of the major corners cut on this PPM.
Also - the introduction crowdfunding price is really the retail price since this is technically a 1 year old product and newer faster, brighter, and most importantly, Google TV supported models are coming out and/or out.
Hanging on to the “we have the brightest” is not a selling point anymore - it’s a sad admission of failure.
It’s most likely the PCB is a MiBox 3 or a cut down version of it with their own build of Android TV.
Would add that at the end PPM is a projector… why the keystone doesn’t work from hdmi input ? too bad
I just saw the ViewSonic X10-4K projector on Amazon UK:
the second product page shows the UI, with Aptoide in prominent place…
so another company that specializes in projectors adopted the same approach as Screeneo…
Anyone has the steps to install Gapps on the projector
?
