What is the value you declared - is it 419 Euro/33K INR?
I didn’t declare any value, they might have taken it from box.
Any update from Delhi customs? I am getting not email from DHL or Philips. @IvoGrijt can you please notify the Philips team that I have not yet received the value proof ($200). They sent me an email saying that it was shared, but I got no such email.
I have replied to them, but a lot of requests go unanswered by them.
Check your spam box Prabhat, Philipsnono did send it to prabhat.ampl @ gmail.com
It is held up, will take more time. I had a call with he customs agent last evening. Things are slow as one shift of agents are under quarantine as one person came covid-19 +ve.
I got one mail earlier today, but the invoice value mentioned is 419 Euro. We needed proof of value declared i.e. $200
Reply to the email indicating this and see what can be done about it
Already did.
Not sure how to get their attention and get the issue resolved. It’s a generic problem for a lot of backers - they should simply share a document here or over email on value of goods justification.
As it stands, the Projector is currently awaiting customs clearance. The customs people will require the Value proof (either an invoice or bank statement mentioning the purchase). Now the customs will verify and obviously they will not clear the goods as the values don’t match.
Solution 1:
We could share a merit letter to the customs via DHL. Stating that this product value is fair and its for your personal use.
Solution 2:
We could request philips to share an invoice to us, which I am guessing nobody has got it so far.
If any of you find an alternate solution. Please do share. This is highly frustrating.
I see a few approaches to solving this:
-
Backerkit provides an order confirmation, can that be used and is it accepted by the customs?
-
We can (and have) provided an invoice stating the same value that’s on the shipping manifest ($200), however there’s been at least one case where it was rejected.
-
We could also provide an invoice stating the price point when pledged by the backer. The taxes would probably be accordingly higher than for the value of $200.
All these solutions would require named invoices though, a generic solution based on an invoice for all will not work I believe. A letter of merit like described above could work as a generic solution, but invoices have to be named and numbered individually.
I suggest the following to all this still in need of an invoice from Philips Projection:
- Find out what you really need or can use that will be accepted (do that together or individually, but sharing is caring). You live in the country and can best talk to the people that can guide you on this.
- once you know, send an email to support@screeneo.com with the following subject line:
INVOICE Request - INDIA
and state in the mail which kind of document you need. Also mention my name (Ivo Grijt) in the mail or subject and I’ll make sure to assign these to the right person to help you out with these.
Thanks for your quick response @IvoGrijt. I did speak with the guy who is handling the customs team in Bangalore Airport. I was wrong with the Invoice part. It seems the customs officer is not accepting those as a valid proof.
The backerkit confirmation and the invoice does not match. So they don’t take that as a valid proof.
The end conclusion from DHL person is that the customs team will now access the product based on the serial number find the value of the product then they will clear the goods and provide the duty amount to be paid.
I had a similar feedback, they asked me to pay 78% duty on 41K (even though I paid only 35K that included shipping). I have requested DHL to tell customs that it’s not a final product (prototype) and hence it is cheaper. Let’s see. I am not confident that it’ll be cleared.
Oh so sorry for you. That’s outrageous…
What… That’s crazy!
35% is the standard customs duty for electronic items right?
@IvoGrijt … Is there a way we can get the manufacturer (Philips) invoice !
oh shit. Im sorry for you guys.
DHL guy told me customs applicable was around 78%, they have sent clarification to customs but for now it was 78% on 41K (value of similar projector in India).
@IvoGrijt I got another email from Philips team. This time they sent a 200 EURO invoice instead of DOLLAR. They also would need to give a breakup of costs of projector and accessories. The breakup should act as a proof of value of the shipment.
Also they mentioned a different address on DHL order and different in invoice they shared. Can you please ask them to look into it on an urgent basis please?
@Philips_Support_N @Philips_Support_T
My old address was given to DHL, ask them to raise the invoice on the same one (they did not update the shipping address, even though I updated it months back).
Reply to that email address and to the ticket you already have with the exact requirements you have and address needed on it, and I’ll ask PhilipsNono to see if he can get it done for you.
So if the customs won’t believe the value of $200, would an invoice with the price you paid for it be accepted? You would have to pay more tax then.
The value of $200 is what I believe is what we insure it for, in case it’s lost / stolen in transit. Why would we state that any higher and incur higher shipping costs if that’s all we need it insured for?
Bro, have you got it, my is still stuck in delhi custom
I have got an email from backer with Tracking Id - 2630224494 which did not exist.
then got an email asking for Passport number, I replied, but the email was no longer in use (hello@picopix.com)
i have sent an email to Support Philips <support@screeneo.com with my passport number.
